Connecting to Services

To connect to the services is quite easy.   For water you will need a half inch connection to the water pipe, which is usually under the bathroom or kitchen area.   Our expert leaves a small length visible for connections. Occasionally, some people have connected to the gas pipe or the hot water part of the system by mistake, so the water was going the wrong way round and therefore the water heater wouldn’t work.

The gas pipe usually has a nipple on it, and is located under the cooker or water heater area in the old mobiles. In a lot of the newer ones it is located on the door-side back corner.   There are two types of gas. For best value you are better using propane as the water heater won’t be able to use up the last of the cylinder if you use butane.

The type of regulator is very important, you have to use one where you can’t adjust the pressure.   It is better to get a gas engineer set up your system, but if this is not possible be careful with the type of regulator.   Ring us if you are not sure.  We will provide you with the right type regulator if you tell us what gas you intend to use.

As regards the waste pipe, you will need a couple of lengths of 1 ¼  and 1 ½ inch pipe, with a few elbow and T joints.   You will also need a 4 inch sewer pipe, 2″ x 4″ elbows, and a collar to connect the sink/shower water into the 4 inch pipe.

Bring the sewer connection underground to the back of the mobile home and into the elbow coming up from the ground insert a short piece of pipe and an elbow on it.   Run a piece of pipe to the toilet area, and put another elbow on with a pipe to go onto the toilet.   Leave at least 4 to 6 feet from the elbow in the ground to the connection to the toilet.

A mobile home doesn’t use a lot of electricity, and the main heat is provided by gas.   If you are going to use a lot of electric heating you should consult your electrician.   Most mobile homes will work on a 10 amp fuse comfortably as you are only using it for lights, fridge and TV.
